How to make wax for hair removal at home
It's nice to pamper yourself by going to a beauty salon to get your hair waxed every
once in a while, but sometimes there may not be time to do it. If you'd like to
experiment with waxing yourself, this article will give you an easy recipe for making
wax at home.
the ingredients
1 cup (250 ml) granulated sugar
1 cup (250 ml) of honey
½ cup (125 ml) lemon juice
method

wax work
1
Melt the sugar. Put the sugar in a medium-thick saucepan and leave it on a medium
or high heat without stirring it, just move the saucepan in a circular motion until
the sugar thickens and becomes a caramel texture. It will now smell delicious!
2
Add the honey and lemon juice to the sugar and stir with a wooden spoon. Be
careful, the sugar will be very hot and foamy.
Keep stirring until the mixture melts and becomes like butter. If the mixture is too
thick, add a teaspoon of water while stirring and repeat the process until you get
the right consistency.
3
Allow the wax to cool slightly before you use it. If you want to use it later, let it cool
and store in the fridge.

use of wax
Make sure the length of hair you want to remove. Preferably hair should be 1/8" to
1/4" (3mm to 6mm) long.
If the hair is too short, the wax will not be able to pull it out from the roots.
If the hair is long, you may feel some discomfort, but not much.
2
Prepare a few pieces or strips of fabric. If you don't have a fabric to fit, you can cut a
cotton or linen shirt to do the job.
To get rid of frayed edges in the fabric, sew the ends with a sewing machine.
3
Sprinkle the area where you will be waxing with baby talcum powder before
applying the wax. Talcum powder or cornstarch will absorb body oils and moisture
and allow the wax to stick to your hair (not your skin), making the process less
painful.
4
Put the candle. Spread the wax where you want to remove hair using a wooden
tongue depressor or other straightener. Spread the wax on your skin in the direction
of hair growth.
5
Spread the cloth over the wax. Place a strip of cloth over the wax that you applied
and spread it well in the direction of hair growth.
6
Leave the wax to cool completely. Gently peel off the end of the cloth to see if the
cloth adheres well to the wax.
7
Peel off the piece of cloth. Tighten your skin by pulling it from the place below the
area where the cloth is placed, and pulling the cloth off in the opposite direction of
hair growth. Do it quickly. Don't pull the fabric off at a 90-degree angle, but rather
at a less steep angle.

Store leftover wax in the refrigerator. Put it in the refrigerator if you are going to
keep it for several weeks, and in the freezer if you are going to keep it for several
months.
Helpful ideas
If you are removing hair from a visible area of the body, such as your face, you can
use a conditioning gel after hair removal to reduce redness. If your face is prone to
redness easily, remove hair from it on days when you do not intend to go out or be
in the sun.
If the wax after removing it leaves a residue on your skin, rinse it off with warm
water. If that doesn't work, boil some water on the stove and add 1 teaspoon of
baking soda to it. Allow the water to cool and then rinse the area again.
If the wax becomes hard before you use it, boil some water and steam the wax until
the wax becomes liquid again.
Exfoliate the area you want to remove hair from two days before waxing, using an
exfoliating scrub or loofah.
Warnings
Avoid reheating the wax in the microwave. The microwave will heat the wax
unevenly, which can leave some parts of the wax very hot. To heat the wax, place it
in a plate of warm water instead of in the microwave.
Make sure to test the temperature of the wax thoroughly before applying it to your
skin.
